Global Entrepreneurship Week At Shahid Bahonar University
Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman hosted Global Entrepreneurship Week with the participation of professors, students, and economic leaders. The event offered students a chance to learn how to turn innovative ideas into real businesses.
Dr. Hossein Nezam-Abadi Pour, the university president, described entrepreneurship as creating value through challenges and emphasized the university’s move toward becoming a fourth-generation university—one that develops technology-based companies rather than just graduates. He highlighted the need for collaboration across the entire innovation ecosystem and the role of incubators in helping startups survive the “valley of death.”
Mehdi Tabibzadeh, president of the Kerman Chamber of Commerce, pointed to structural barriers such as unstable policies and weak taxation systems. He stressed that Kerman has strong potential for transformation in agriculture and mining, and universities must act as engines of economic development.
Dr. Maziar Salmanzadeh, director of the Office of Industry Relations, underlined the necessity of private-sector involvement in higher education. He argued that knowledge is valuable only when it generates income and noted that real entrepreneurship requires honesty, wisdom, and the ability to withstand failure.
From the Ministry of Science, Dr. Hassan Jamati stated that entrepreneurship is a key driver of job creation. He emphasized that many of the nation’s talents still lack opportunities to flourish and that skill development, market awareness, and practical experience are essential for students entering the entrepreneurial landscape.
The event also featured 14 expert panels with founders and executives from leading startups such as Toman, Boom Shimi, Shab, Cafe Bazaar, Flightio, DigiNext, SnappTrip, and Bezhket. Guests shared practical insights on launching businesses, team management, fundraising, and overcoming challenges.
This event provided students with firsthand exposure to successful entrepreneurs and a clearer understanding of how to turn ideas into profitable products and services. Through such initiatives, Shahid Bahonar University is strengthening its innovation ecosystem and supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs.
