👉Types of Punching reinforcemt bar:
1.Cranked bars
Is also known as bent-up bars, are used in flat slabs to resist punching shear forces by providing inclined reinforcement around the column, similar to stirrups, to transfer shear stress from the slab to the concrete column more effectively.
This improves the slab's structural integrity and shear capacity, preventing the concentrated loads from columns from causing shear failure and protecting against progressive collapse.

2.Shear Reinforcement (Stirrups/Dowel Bars/Shear Heads)
In flat slab design, punching shear at the slab–column connection is a critical failure mode.
Since the slab is thin and heavily stressed around columns, special reinforcement is often needed.
Here’s how shear reinforcement can be provided:
2.1. Stirrups (Closed Links / Vertical Hoops)
Concept: Vertical stirrups placed around the column in multiple perimeters.
Function: Intercept diagonal shear cracks and transfer shear safely.
Details:
Arranged in closed rectangular or circular hoops.
Placed within a critical perimeter around the column (usually at 0.5d to 1.5d from the column face).
2.2.Dowel Bars (Shear Dowel Reinforcement)
Concept: Vertical steel bars (dowels) anchored into the slab near the column face.
Function: Resist vertical shear and enhance punching resistance by direct load transfer.
Details:
Placed in concentric rings around the column.
Often welded to top and bottom anchorage bars or headed at ends for better anchorage.
Common in high-load slabs where stirrups are not practical.
2.3.Shear Heads (Steel Sections / Cruciform Beams)
Concept: Steel I-sections or cross-shaped steel profiles embedded in the slab around the column.
Function: Increase slab thickness locally, redistribute punching shear, and enhance capacity.
Details:
Usually four steel arms extending from the column in orthogonal directions.
Used in heavily loaded slabs (e.g., industrial buildings, parking structures).
Efficient when architectural requirements demand a flat soffit (no drop panels)
