Span-Based Beam Depth – Civil Engineering
Beam depth is an important factor in reinforced concrete (RCC) structural design. It depends on the span length, loading conditions, support conditions, deflection limits, and structural requirements.
Span-Based Beam Depth (Reference Values)
1. 3 m Span: 23 cm beam depth.
2. 4 m Span: 23 cm beam depth.
3. 5 m Span: 30 cm beam depth.
4. 6 m Span: 35 cm beam depth.
5. 7 m Span: 40 cm beam depth.
6. 8 m Span: 45 cm beam depth.
7. 9 m Span: 50 cm beam depth.
8. 10 m Span: 60 cm beam depth.
Important Note:
These values are preliminary reference dimensions, not universal design requirements. Actual beam depth must be verified through structural analysis and design according to the applicable building code, including bending moment, shear force, deflection, and reinforcement requirements.
Why Is Beam Depth Important?
Proper beam depth helps control deflection, resist bending, and provide adequate structural strength and stability.
