Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Engineer to design, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs.
In this role, you will analyze workplace processes and equipment to identify health and safety hazards, ensure compliance with national and local safety regulations (e.g., OHS), and establish proactive measures to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational hazards.
Key Responsibilities
Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment: Conduct systematic workplace hazard assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and failure mode analyses to eliminate risks before incidents occur.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure operations comply with local, national, and Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., OHS, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations for accidents, injuries, near-misses, and property damage.
Safety System Design & Equipment Review: Evaluate machinery, tools, plant layouts, and engineering controls (e.g., machine guarding, ventilation, emergency stop systems) to ensure inherent safety design.
Safety Training & Culture: Plan and deliver safety orientation, specialized hazard training and foster a zero-incident safety culture.
Audits & Inspections: Perform routine facility and site safety inspections, document findings, track corrective action items, and lead internal and external safety audits.
Emergency Response Planning: Develop, review, and test emergency evacuation, fire safety, and chemical spill response plans.
Qualifications & RequirementsEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Safety Management, Civil Engineering or a related technical field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience working as a Safety Engineer, EHS Specialist, or HSE Officer in an industrial, manufacturing, construction, or technical environment.
Technical Knowledge: Deep knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA standards, NFPA guidelines, EPA codes) and ergonomic, chemical, electrical, and mechanical hazard controls.
