Still not a reason to shoot an unarmed person seven times in the back. For me it looks like excessive brutality. I really wonder why they let him walk towards his car instead of kicking him in the knee pit, jumping on him, fixating and cuffing him. They were close enough to him. Just because people are criminal and violent we shouldn't be blind for police brutality.
I realize that you are being more careful with your accusation than the general mainstream, however there are still many things wrong with your comment. I will try to sum it up in 2 main points.
1. He had a knife so he was not actually unarmed. The police also cannot know ahead of time what he is going to pull out of his car, so based on the situation it should be fair that they assumed the worst.
2. "Why didn't they just..." is not fair for a situation where a split second can determine if you live or die. The officers tasered him but he showed no reaction and I do not think people realize how diffcult that level of pain resistance is to achieve. At that point they could have been three officers and still be outmatched in a fight because he simply won't feel pain or go down. There is a saying "It is better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6." I will not blame the officers, or anyone else, for following this mentality.
