Chevron will build a 2.67 GW gas plant in West Texas dedicated to a single Microsoft data center, under a 20-year power deal.
The facility runs GE Vernova and Caterpillar turbines on Permian Basin gas, which is routinely flared because regional pipeline capacity can't move it all. Co-locating the plant with the campus means Microsoft gets dedicated power without waiting in the grid queue. First delivery is expected in 2028.
