The story of Beita Shafiei is the story of a young woman the Islamic Republic has tried and failed to silence. She became known during the school poisoning protests when she picked up a tear gas canister that had been fired at students and threw it back at the officers attacking her classmates. That single moment of courage turned her into a symbol for her generation.
The regime responded with violence. During her first detention interrogators broke her middle finger after she raised it in protest inside the courtroom. When agents raided her home looking for her they beat her father. Even after her release she was forced into re-education classes and threatened with prison if she ever dared to speak again.
She spoke anyway. She kept posting. She kept supporting the protest movement. And in a major step she openly declared her support for Reza Pahlavi and said she believed in a path for Iran’s liberation.
Now both she and her mother, Maryam Abbasi Nikoo, have been arrested. Security forces raided their home in Shahin Shahr, assaulted her father once more, and took her mother first before detaining Beita herself. Their location and condition remain unknown.
Beita’s story is not abstract. It is a daughter dragged away, a mother imprisoned, a father beaten, and a young woman punished for refusing to bow to fear.
Remember her name. Amplify her voice. She cannot speak right now, so the world must speak for her.
داستان بیتا شفیعی داستان یک زن جوان است که جمهوری اسلامی تلاش کرده و شکست خورده است تا صدایش را خاموش کند. او در جریان اعتراضات مسمومیت مدارس شناخته شد، زمانی که یک کپسول گاز اشک‌آور که به سمت دانش‌آموزان شلیک شده بود را برداشت و به سمت افسرانی که به همکلاسی‌هایش حمله می‌کردند پرتاب کرد. آن لحظه شجاعت او را به نمادی برای نسلش تبدیل کرد.
رژیم با خشونت پاسخ داد. در اولین بازداشتش، بازجویان انگشت وسط او را شکستند وقتی که در دادگاه آن را به نشانه اعتراض بالا برد. وقتی مأموران به دنبال او به خانه‌اش یورش بردند، پدرش را کتک زدند. حتی پس از آزادی، مجبور به شرکت در کلاس‌های بازآموزی شد و تهدید به زندان شد اگر دوباره جرأت کند صحبت کند.
او با این حال صحبت کرد. به پست گذاشتن ادامه داد. به حمایت از جنبش اعتراضی ادامه داد. و در گامی بزرگ، به طور علنی حمایت خود را از رضا پهلوی اعلام کرد و گفت به راهی برای آزادی ایران باور دارد.
اکنون هم او و هم مادرش، مریم عباسی نیکو، بازداشت شده‌اند. نیروهای امنیتی به خانه‌شان در شاهین‌شهر یورش بردند، بار دیگر پدرش را مورد ضرب و شتم قرار دادند و ابتدا مادرش را گرفتند و سپس بیتا را بازداشت کردند. محل و وضعیت آن‌ها نامعلوم است.
داستان بیتا انتزاعی نیست. این یک دختر است که ربوده شده، مادری زندانی شده، پدری کتک خورده و زنی جوان که به خاطر نپذیرفتن ترس مجازات شده است.
نام او را به یاد داشته باشید. صدایش را تقویت کنید. او اکنون نمی‌تواند صحبت کند، پس جهان باید به جای او سخن بگوید.
