I have some German from a branch of my family thats been in US for hundreds of years and one of my relatives fought in the Civil war and survived with a hole through his calf. Just found out as I thought we all came straight to Canada from UK. I am also a direct decendant of Robert the Bruce, founder of Modern Day Scotland on my mothers side. Your family history can be pretty interesting.
