🧪 CONCRETE SLUMP TEST — PROCEDURE, PURPOSE AND IMPORTANCE
The concrete slump test is commonly used to assess the consistency and workability of fresh concrete.
It helps determine whether the concrete's consistency is within the specified acceptance range.
🔹 Basic Testing Procedure
1️⃣ Prepare a clean, level, non-absorbent surface and the specified slump cone.
2️⃣ Fill the cone according to the applicable test procedure.
3️⃣ Compact each layer as required by the test standard.
4️⃣ Strike off the top surface and carefully lift the cone vertically.
5️⃣ Measure the change in height between the original cone height and the highest point of the slumped concrete, following the test standard.
6️⃣ Record and interpret the result according to the project requirements.
🔹 Why Is the Test Important?
✅ Helps assess consistency.
✅ Supports fresh-concrete quality control.
✅ Helps identify unexpected changes between batches.
✅ Provides useful information for placement planning.
⚠️ Important: A slump result alone does not establish concrete compressive strength or prove that a mix is acceptable in every respect.
📌 Always use the applicable standard, approved test equipment, and project acceptance criteria.
