The Myth of Full NodesIf every single full node were to reject a transaction while miners and exchanges continued to act as usual, the influence or effect of those full nodes' rejection would be effectively zero percent on the overall Bitcoin network.
Miners are the entities that validate transactions by including them in blocks. The Bitcoin blockchain is extended by miners who solve complex mathematical problems to create new blocks. Once a transaction is included in a mined block, it becomes a part of the blockchain that all other nodes, including exchanges and any remaining users, recognize as the authoritative chain. Miners, not full nodes, are the ones who determine the actual state of the blockchain.
Full nodes do not have the ability to build or extend the blockchain; they only validate transactions locally, based on the rules they follow.
This local validation (if you can even honestly state that word) has no impact on the consensus of the network. If a transaction is included in a block by a miner, full nodes are powerless to change the network state.
They must accept the miner-produced chain if they wish to remain compatible with the rest of the network. Their opinions or rejections are isolated and do not alter the global state of the blockchain.
The majority of Bitcoin users, including exchanges, rely on the blocks produced by miners to verify the state of the blockchain.
As long as exchanges and miners continue to support and recognize the transactions in those blocks, the network will continue to operate as usual, regardless of the actions of full nodes.
Even if all full nodes collectively decided to reject a transaction, it would have no effect on the blockchain if the miners include it in their blocks. In this scenario, the influence of full nodes would be completely negligible. Their presence or absence does not alter the network’s consensus, and they have no real power to affect the decisions made by miners and exchanges.
