👉The main components of a staircase include the treads (the horizontal steps), risers (the vertical boards between steps), stringers (the side supports), handrails and balusters (the safety railing and vertical posts), and landings (the flat platforms for rest or direction changes).

🎲The main parts can be grouped into the steps, the structural supports, and the safety features.

🚧Step components

⏺Tread: The flat, horizontal part of the step where you place your foot.
⏺Riser: The vertical section between two treads that sets the height of the step.
⏺Nosing: The front edge of the tread that extends slightly over the riser.
⏺Curtail Step: An ornamental step at the very bottom of a staircase, often with a rounded end.

🚧Structural components

⏺Stringer: The inclined board or panel that runs along the side or center of the stairs, supporting the treads and risers.
⏺Newel Post: A larger, sturdy post located at the beginning, end, or bends of a staircase that supports the handrail.
⏺Landing: A wide, flat platform at the top or bottom of a flight of stairs or between flights, used for rest or to change direction.

⭐️Safety and finishing components

⏺Handrail: A long bar, typically attached to a wall or supported by newel posts and balusters, that provides support for users.
⏺Baluster: The vertical posts or spindles that are placed between the handrail and the tread or base rail to prevent falls and fill the gap in the balustrade.
⏺Balustrade: The entire system of handrail, balusters, and base rail that runs along the open side of the stairs.
⏺Newel Cap: The ornamental top piece of a newel post.
