👉A stair (or staircase) is a series of steps that allows people to move between different levels of a building or structure.

▶️Each stair is made up of steps consisting of a tread (the horizontal part you step on) and a riser (the vertical part between treads).

⏺Stairs are essential in architecture for vertical movement when elevators or ramps aren’t suitable.

🔹 Types of Stairs (Based on Design & Shape):

📌1. Straight Stair

▶️Runs in a straight line without turning.

⏺Simple, common, and easy to build.

📌2. Quarter-Turn (L-shaped) Stair

▶️Has a 90° turn at a landing, changing direction.

⏺Saves space and looks more elegant.

📌3. Half-Turn (U-shaped) Stair

▶️Includes two flights with a 180° turn at a landing.
⏺Compact and often used in multi-storey buildings.

📌4. Spiral Stair

⏺Circular design winding around a central pole.
▶️Space-saving, but narrow and not ideal for heavy use.

📌5. Helical (Curved) Stair

⏺Smooth, curved design (not around a central pole).
▶️Stylish and often seen in luxury buildings.

📌6. Bifurcated Stair

▶️Starts with a wide flight at the bottom, then splits into two narrower flights going in opposite directions.
▶️Common in grand buildings and palaces.

📌7. Circular Stair

⏺Similar to spiral, but with larger radius and no central post.
Easier to use than spiral stairs.

📌8. Dog-Legged Stair

⏺A type of half-turn stair without any gap between flights.
⏺Saves floor space, used in residential/commercial buildings.

📌9. Winder Stair

▶️Turns using triangular steps instead of a landing.
▶️Space-saving but less safe than landings.

📌10. Open-Well Stair

▶️Two flights (like dog-legged) but with a gap/well in between.
Provides light and ventilation through the well.

✅ In summary:

⏺Straight & dog-legged → simple & common.
⏺L-shaped & U-shaped → compact, better aesthetics.
⏺Spiral & helical → decorative, space-saving.
⏺Bifurcated → grand style.
