Fear not, for Elon Musk is here to offer you a solution BY HACKING YOUR MIND AND TURNING YOU INTO A SUPERHUMAN.
Well, kind of.
Musk plans to show off a working brain-to-computer interface on Friday. Developed by his company Neurolink, the 4mm x 4mm chip will connect to the brain via hundreds of incredibly thin ‘threads’ inserted through four holes drilled into the skull.
Applications have been made for human trials, but this demo will involve a robot.
The immediate medical aim of the interface is to allow people with neurological conditions to operate technology and – conspiracy theorists beware – for brain activity to be monitored.
But Musk’s ultimate goal is to ‘hack’ our brains and create ‘superhuman cognition’ so that people aren’t overpowered by pure AI.
‘If you can’t beat it, join it,’ Musk once claimed.
