Tragic, really. I wake up each day and face the unbearable burden of paradise.

The sea stretches out like a postcard no one asked for.

A gentle breeze slaps me in the face with salt and serenity. I take my American-made Epic kayak—you know, one of those capitalist luxuries I heroically snatched before someone wrapped it in a tariff and called it patriotism—and I paddle my poor, sun-soaked body 10 to 12 kilometres. Sometimes I even stop.

You know, to suffer through a swim in crystal water or examine coral that doesn’t even know it’s part of my wellness journey.

I’ve lost just over 10 kilos, and none of it muscle. I know, alert the tabloids. I do this six times a week—when I am not boxing, working, or experiencing the cruel injustice of looking at my own private beach. Life is hard when the view refuses to be mediocre.
