He had left the village where he was born and been worked for the communist government-owned SOE for many years before Mao regained power during the Culture revolution. But when CR came, the village leader asked him to come back, 1/ and sent him to live with pigs many days, and beaten him and humiliated him many times in front of the public because his father, my grandfather once owned private property before. He lost one eye and barely made out live after the manager of that SOE interfered. 2/4

The last time when I visited him before his pass, I saw he put Mao's picture on the shelf of his dining room. And so does my cousins, they all see Mao as most Christians here see Jesus. 3/4

It's extremely troublesome for me to understand my Uncle and cousins' on this, but I also understand that only one can fully understand the trauma if one experienced it oneself.
