🏗️ SEPTIC TANK & SOAK PIT – CONSTRUCTION DETAILS

A septic tank treats household wastewater through settling and anaerobic decomposition, while a soak pit allows treated effluent to infiltrate into the surrounding soil.

🔹 Main Components:

Inlet and outlet pipes
First and second chambers
Baffle wall
Inspection covers/manholes
Soak pit with gravel or stone layers

🔹 Typical Dimensions:

Tank length: 2.5–4.0 m
Width: 1.2–2.0 m
Internal height: 1.2–1.8 m
Soak pit diameter: 1.0–1.5 m
Soak pit depth: 2.0–3.0 m

⚙️ Working Principle: Wastewater enters the tank → solids settle → effluent passes through the chambers → treated liquid flows into the soak pit.

⚠️ Note: Final dimensions depend on occupancy, soil conditions, groundwater level, and local sanitation standards.
