🌍 Protecting a 40-Million-Year-Old World Heritage Forest
🔥 IADM Calls for Immediate Action to Safeguard the Hyrcanian Forests
The International Association of Disaster Management (IADM) has released an urgent proposal addressing the escalating wildfire threats facing Iran’s Hyrcanian forests, one of the oldest ecosystems on Earth and a registered UNESCO World Heritage Site.
These ancient forests in Gilan, Mazandaran, and Golestan represent a global ecological treasure. However, increasing wildfire frequency and limited aerial firefighting capacity now pose a serious threat to their survival.
📘 IADM’s new national proposal recommends:
• Deployment of modern water-scooping aircraft (CL-415/515, Be-200)
• Expansion of firefighting helicopter capacity
• Integration of AT-802F aerial support aircraft
• 24/7 thermal-imaging drone monitoring
• Creation of a unified Incident Command System (ICS)
• Establishment of three regional aerial operations bases
Our assessment shows that this system can reduce wildfire duration by up to 75% and dramatically protect the ecological integrity of this globally significant forest.
🌲 The Hyrcanian forests are not only Iran’s heritage, they are humanity’s heritage.
Modernizing wildfire response is an urgent national and international priority.
