👉Type of bar used in reinforced concrete construction:

🚧1. Main Bar

⏺The main bar (also called longitudinal bar) is the primary reinforcement placed in beams, slabs, or columns to resist tensile stresses that occur due to bending.

⏺It carries the main load.
In beams, it is placed at the bottom (tension zone) and sometimes at the top near supports.

⏺In slabs, it runs in the direction of the main span (the longer direction).

🚧2. Top Bar

⏺The top bar is the reinforcement placed at the top portion of a beam or slab.

⏺It mainly resists negative bending moments that occur over supports.

⏺In cantilever beams, the top bar is the main tension bar, because the top side of the cantilever is in tension.

🚧3. Distribution Bar

⏺The distribution bar is placed perpendicular to the main bar in a slab.

⏺Its main purpose is to distribute the load evenly and control shrinkage and temperature cracks.

⏺It helps maintain the correct spacing and supports the main bars in position.

🚧4. Negative Bar

⏺The negative bar is a type of main reinforcement placed where bending moment is negative, such as over supports in continuous beams or slabs.

💫In those regions, the top fibers are in tension, so negative bars are provided at the top side to resist that tension.

🏷In short:

⏺Main bar:- carries main tension.
⏺Top bar:- at top, resists negative moments.
⏺Distribution bar:- spreads load and controls cracking.
⏺Negative bar:-top reinforcement over supports to handle negative bending.

It is good but I have a question the first one is you say the main bar is runs along longer direction, what means that ? For example span A=6m & span B=4m, is the main bar runs (starts) from the point of shorter span or from longer span?
An other question is in slab their is top and bottom reinforcemen then is the top and bottom reinforcement bars have its own main& distribution bar?
