Your final remarks are correct. This equipment will be sitting ducks for trained Russian military. From the point of view of the arms manufacturers though it seems like a good way to get rid of old inventory while presumably being compensated by the govt. But, most importantly, politically it's a disaster to see Germany do this.

There is no political solution. It is too late already. People will not wake up until everything goes bat shit crazy.
