🧱Shotcrete Soil Nail Wall – Stabilized Slope Retention System

A Shotcrete Soil Nail Wall is a ground stabilization technique used to support excavated slopes, deep cuts, and unstable soil. Steel soil nails are drilled into the slope and grouted in place, while reinforced shotcrete is sprayed over the surface to create a durable retaining system.

This method is widely used because it is economical, fast to install, and adaptable to difficult site conditions.

🔹 Main Components

1. Shotcrete Facing Layer – Protects against erosion and provides structural support.

2. Steel Reinforcement Mesh – Strengthens the shotcrete and controls cracking.

3. Soil Nail Head & Bearing Plate – Transfers load from the nail to the wall surface.

4. Grouted Soil Nail (Steel Bar) – Reinforces the soil mass and improves stability.

5. Secondary Shotcrete Layer – Optional finishing layer for additional durability.

6. Strip Drain – Collects groundwater behind the wall.

7. Drainage Strip & Toe Drain – Prevents water pressure buildup.

8. Toe Drain Pipe – Removes collected water from the base.

9. Compacted Stabilized Soil – Provides a strong retained soil mass.

10. Existing Ground – Original slope before excavation.

📌 Design Notes

Soil nail length: 3H to 5H (H = Wall Height)

Nail spacing: 1.0–2.0 m

Shotcrete thickness: 75–100 mm

Reinforcement mesh cover: 25–40 mm

Minimum concrete grade: M25 (or as per design)

Proper drainage is essential for long-term performance.
