👉The Most Common Site Inspection Failures 🏗️

Effective site inspection is essential for maintaining construction quality, structural safety, and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.

Some of the most common issues inspectors should watch for include:

1. Poor Workmanship – Honeycombing, voids, exposed aggregate, uneven finishes, improper compaction, and segregation can compromise concrete quality.

2. Inadequate Documentation – Ensure approved drawings, test reports, inspection records, approvals, method statements, and as-built information are properly maintained and updated.

3. Incorrect Reinforcement Placement – Check bar diameter, spacing, concrete cover, lap lengths, anchorage, stirrup spacing, and proper tying according to structural drawings.

4. Insufficient Curing – Concrete should be cured promptly and continuously using appropriate methods. For ordinary Portland cement concrete, 7 days is a common minimum reference, subject to the project specification and applicable code.

5. Safety Violations – Verify proper PPE, safe access, barricading, edge protection, housekeeping, warning signs, and compliance with site safety procedures.

6. Deviation from Approved Drawings – Confirm dimensions, levels, reinforcement, locations, and construction details against the latest approved drawings. Any proposed change should go through the required RFI/approval process before execution.

✅ Remember: Early inspection helps identify defects before they become expensive or dangerous problems.

Right Construction • Right Inspection • Right Quality • Stronger Future
