Let’s not mince words here.
All these arguments about money forming out of barter are complete nonsense, peddled by people who pretend to understand history but clearly don’t.
They speak with such confidence about ancient economies as if they’ve uncovered some grand truth, yet they offer no real historical evidence.
It’s a myth—just a convenient story they spin to justify their ideologies.
The fact is, there’s no empirical validation for the idea that societies went from barter to a universally accepted medium of exchange in a straight line. Real societies, historically, relied on credit systems, social debts, and obligations long before they ever minted coins. They didn’t trade cows for chickens. This fairy tale of barter-based economies has been debunked repeatedly by serious historians and anthropologists, but that doesn’t stop these pseudo-economists from repeating the same tired clichés.
They love to ramble about “primitive barter” because it fits neatly into their narrative, not because it’s true.
And the tragedy is, people believe this garbage because it’s delivered with unwavering conviction, as if conviction could somehow replace facts. It’s all about presenting ideology as if it were history. They twist the narrative until it suits their purposes, and then expect the rest of us to swallow it whole.
But conviction without evidence is just empty rhetoric—it’s a smokescreen to hide the lack of substance.
