Needed. The least manly Asians I have encountered. I lived in China for many years, now live in Vietnam. there I'd quite a difference.

Actually as an expat there are a lot of opportunities there. I was able to work at a bilingual school in a stimulating job with a low cost of living and flexible hours. Was able to squirrel away 20k in a matter of months. It is a huge trade off. The cities are not 'shitholes'either. There are many negatives to living in China, and they are a danger, but many cities have more character than US cities. Plus high speed rail connects the country. Many people still act like peasants, but do not underestimate China and why people move there.

'Everyone knows' and yet you haven't been there? I am very critical of China, and yet I am not going to deny what it has over a lot of the West. The UK and the US both have shitty public transport and not the best job opportunities on offer. This is the reality. The pollution is mainly in the north and centre. The southeast coast is not bad. Much of Vietnam is now about the same, as is India.
