Andrey Lugovoy, a lawmaker and member of the State Duma’s Security and Anti-Corruption Commission, has said in an interview with Duma TV that he uses Telegram and recommends it to everyone.
It should be noted that it is Lugovoy that petitioned to recognize Yandex.News, a popular Russian news aggregator, as a mass-media outlet. Pavel Durov then reacted to this by inviting developers from Yandex to develop a news aggregator in-house for Telegram, and recently launched a contest to develop data clustering tools for news articles.
Andrey Lugovoy has regularly advocated for legislation to control the internet. Before Telegram was blocked in Russia, he also stated that intelligence agencies should have access to users’ private communications in messaging apps.
