I think this will be awesome!
It makes sense to have the kernel stable across all hardware types and be a one for all, although modular.
good initiative
Would be great, Android Kernel is based in Linux LTS 4.9, the newest is 5.3.

I would like to see less user data collection by google.
I'll pass. Pine is coming and it will get better with time. Not forgetting librem 5
That's nice, Linux is growing non-stop.
If this happens it will be awesome, but might kill the efforts of similar open source projects like postmarketOS, ubuntu touch, etc. Maybe that's what Google is aiming in the first place. Anyways it's good to have some challenge by Google, this will give the extra motivation to the community to reach there first.
Open source w/o backdoor of government - I say yes.
Wouldn't change much

Let me comparison: Maybe Furchsia is viable / hassle-free to make for Google like Convergence for Canonical ๐Ÿ˜‚
It's about time. Hopefully the OEM don't break it to much and make kernel porting easier.

Fuchsia Google said recently it is not going to continue to develop and it was more a rtos than Linux. This would help alot of people that are already doing this in the Android hacking community.
