I guess writing in third person would work in the beginning and then ending the plot by revealing the identity

I'd suggest prevent the 3rd person perspective , coz it might happen so that later on in the book the voice might change , usually the first person perspective suits a lot better coz you express the character exactly the way you imagine them in your head and while reading the reader relates a lot more to the "i" perspective 🙂
