I'm in Russia. Putin has waged a war. I'm in contact with my friends from Kiev, Kharkiv and other cities. They are all packing. Some of them can't get out of the cities. Few lucky ones moved the hell away some days ago. People I know in Kiev are safe, but they constantly hear explosions. Putin has gone mad. It's not fake.
Some facts : this is a (old) conflict between Ukraine and Russia. This is (normally) NOT a Problem of NATO or USA, so there is no need of any big sanctions or better-knowing and visiting Putin to explain him the world. Did Ukraine ask for help ? No. They are small and weak and have a mighty neighbour. So what the hell do they think will happen sooner or later, if you don’t Play by his rules ? You will be taken and that’s what is happening. And in my eyes the western also provoked it by his „bad Russia - good Ukraine“ Play

President Putin laid it all out in a video posted on RT YouTube channel. Kiev tossed out threats of developing nuclear weapons. That required a response. This is much the same as the preemptive strikes Israel has taken on several occasions to maintain it's security against a neighboring threat.

In 2014 Ukraine, along with Russia and the US, signed the Minsk agreement where Ukraine promised to stop conflict in Donetsk and Lugansk, give them independence and negotiate with those regions. Ukraine never did any of what they promised and signed off on in the Minsk agreement, the just went on to shelling and bombing Donetsk and Lugansk civilians. Russia sat and waited for 8 years for Ukraine to abide by the Minsk agreement, but they disregard the Minsk agreement and shelled civilians in Donetsk and Lugansk. This past week, Ukraine ramped up shelling of Lugansk and Donetsk while NATO bolstered them with funds and military hardware, Russia said that enough is enough and put their foot down to protect civilians in Lugansk and Donetsk.
