Under the hood of a new Lexus LS500. They don't want owners touching anything.

I just know you're violating some kind of warranty if you remove that cover

at least in the USA, usually the "warranty void if opened" is legally nullified, since the 80s i think (but im no lawyer dont take my word for it)

You are right
But they are trying to push it so it will pass
Imo it makes sence
But it’s retarded in the same time
So... how do you do maintenance on it?

You have to pay an official workshop for everything
I just noticed, having a closer look at the photo, that you can still access to the small thing yoy have to check regularly
That was my first concern in the first place
The point of that shroud is noise dampening. It isn't to keep the owner out, you just have to remove the bolts holding the plastic in place.
Plastic covers have been a thing for the last 20 years. Sometimes they aren't even screwed in, just pressure fit. Sound dampening and lower temps in the engine bay are the primary reasons, but if you want to believe that a plastic cover with no screws will stop someone of touching under there, maybe that someone shouldn't touch under there.
The shrouds aren't there to keep owners out, they help with noise and keeps the engine bay tighty.
Ahmaud Arbery wasn’t murdered!
I thought the term was damping and not "dampening" since they're not making it wet, but reducing sound.

You are probably right. English is not my first or primary language. I just thought that was the word I always heard people use when meaning "to soften".
