We should all be worried when people start policing language. Really disappointing to see Torvalds approve this. We live in scary times where basic human rights like speech are being violated.
What a clown world. I just wanna make sure that from now on, I will more often and more prominent use those politically bad terms. If someone wants to dictate or language and cultures, he can have some spit in this face.
Sorry but I disagree. Firstly, technology is not inherently bad...at least not Linux and annexed. Secondly, to me it looks more like wasting our energy and focus. Lastly, we are not "disconnecting" anythung because there was no connection whatsoever in the first place.
I haven't seen FreeBSD's, but the CoC at Linux Foundation now is by someone who "hates white dudes in tech," meanwhile he IS a white dude in tech pretending to be a woman.
I HAVE, however, seen a video of the guy at FreeBSD who fronted their new CoC to them, ranting like a tantrum queen in someone else's talk at one of their conferences. Its on YouTube. His name is Werner I think.
I remembered his whole name: Werner Losh Here's the video I saw first: https://youtu.be/UaQpvXSa4X8 (Go to 19:00 for context, action really starts around 19:35) And I found this one more recently: https://youtu.be/UaQpvXSa4X8 (It another angle on that session, starts just after the outburst)
Grant Kruger
As I've been thinking about this, it's become clear to me that there are some working behind the scenes at Linux Foundation to push agendas on Linux.
Does Microsoft have a hand in it? Probably. I wouldn't be surprised in the least. Whatever they say about loving Linux, its Windows that butters their bread.
But regarding the changing of terms specifically, making people use only some words and not others is an attempt at thought control. That's what Orwell was writing about in 1984 with "Newspeak."
"Blacklist" as a term has nothing to do with race. Its used in Linux to describe lists of software that will be excluded and not run, like at boot. Changing it for political window dressing won't affect true race issues one little bit.
FreeBSD might be our only hope.
2019: Charles Max Wood cancelled from Kubecon for calling on SJWs to be civil (and joking that Trump Tower was the White House).
2020: Linux maintainers playing to new woke overlords by playing language games with terms that have literally nothing to do with race.
Buckle up, buckaroos, ride's only just gotten started.

It doesn't really add anything except another view of the room.
