If room was completely dark, then how I saw anything?

I'm assuming the fire has been lit somewhere outside the room and it was the source for lighting that room. It yes, then I would say:

The fire I lit had extinguished and the room has gone completely dark. But as I stepped inside the room, I saw two red dots blinking in a corner.

Alternatively, if the fire was inside the room

The fire I lit in the room had extinguished and it has gone completely dark. But as I stepped inside, I saw two red dots blinking in a corner.

"The fire I had lit was completely extinguished and the room was now completely dark." The action of lighting a fire came before it was extinguished.

The sentence is grammatically correct. however i have suggestion to write the same as:


"As I stepped into the dark room, the fire I lit had been extinguished, leaving the room completely devoid of light. However, my eyes caught two red dots blinking in the corner, emanating from a small device on the floor."

In a completely darkened room, The fire i lit was extinguished. as i step in blinking red spots were seen in the corner of the room.
