Nowadays nationality is represented by passport. However, a name can be used to identify ethnicity. Ethnic Russians mostly have Christian names of Greek or Hebrew origin. Rarely do you meet a Russian guy with a name of turkic or arabic origin. Your name is widespread among muslim ethnic minorities of Russia more often than not, such as tatars, chechens, bashkirs etc. Maybe you have predecessors from these minorities. There's a singer called Manizha, she's a Tajik with Russian citizenship but calls herself "Russian woman".
Ah, well, Russian is a very broad term and is wider than simply a genetic description, it's just like American. Of course your general Russian would look more like me and have a similar name, I'm considered a Russian as I live in Russia and have Russian citizenship, although I have Ukrainian descent many may argue it's all the same and you will never say whether you're looking at a Russian guy or at a Ukrainian guy and the difference is purely territorial.
Indeed, looks like the majority of Tatars in the world are indigenous to the land controlled by Russia.
