Microsoft can suck it forevermore. In arenas where they don't have to play nice (like Windows and Office), they don't, only in arenas where they actually have to cooperate if they want to participate. They haven't changed in the slightest, only got their asses kicked by a changing world, and still behave exactly the same in areas where they can get away with it.

Microsoft is only a company. If it hires people like Ballmer, the company will do stuff which will portray them as anti-Linux. If it continues with people like Nadella, then the company will do stuff which will portray them as Linux-friendly.
