Evegreen's container ship Ever Given will be detained pending investigation.

This was announced by the head of the administration of the channel, Osama Rabia.

"The vessel will remain in Bolshoy Gorky Lake until the investigation is completed," he said.

The lead investigator in the case, Captain Seyyed Sheishi, said the investigation includes examining the seaworthiness of the ship and the actions of its captain in order to determine the reason for the blockage of the ship.

"We must thoroughly find out what equipment was on the container ship and whether it was properly deployed. The crew's refusal to cooperate with the investigation and provide all the information will entail the opening of a civil case, which is fraught with the confiscation of the ship and its contents," Sheishi explained.
