Meanwhile, in Canada…

Oooh, Canada have taken the lead over NZ... Your turn Ardern. Can you better this?
How naive should the person be to write "democracy hs died today", there can't be a democracy where there is liberalism. The ideology trumps democracy any day of the week
Liberalism cannot tolerate democracy, their ideology requires submission of the masses to the their ideology.
This is clear insanity. If anyone is fine with this, they shouldn't be. Not even the way they treat hard-line jihadist.
Democracy is evil anyway.
"It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried."
- Winston Churchill
Also he said:
"Nothing can be more abhorrent to democracy than to imprison a person or keep him in prison because he is unpopular. This is really the test of civilization."

4 provinces have come out against the move. Maybe this will add some momentum to Quebecois independence.
Time for open revolt
Time for all the provinces to push back against blackface the silly power hungry manlet.

I hope this will seriously backfire at that tyrannical rainbow-clown Trudeau and his goons.

Really? What would be a fairer system?

Time for clear headedness. You dont want to walk into a trap

There is no "fair system", but mob rule is never fair and that is precisely what democracy is. The US uses a Federal Republic and a system of representation. Centralized authority should be resisted at every opportunity.

Clear headedness yes, but, a solid plan of action is required to be successful. And it's best to start planning before it is too late. Better to have and not need, than to need and not have.

I believe in direct democracy. That way situations like this can be avoided
Good for you, even if that is a meaningless statement. ALL democracy is nothing more than mob rule. You don't avoid these situations, you make them worse. Consider that it wasn't until AFTER the truckers started showing an alternative that public opinion started drifting from government policy. It wasn't until AFTER the government became more and more insane that public opinion dramatically changed. In your "direct democracy" the government would have used mob rule to immediately and thoroughly crush the truckers because it had mod support.

I get that this discussion is getting a bit heated but I think you misunderstood me. In a direct democracy the leaders cant force their agenda on the majority of people who dont really want it. A binding citizen's iniated referendum would be enacted.
Is it getting heated? You misunderstand the concept of democracy and seem to think that a central authority doesn't exist in one, which is the exact opposite of truth. You can also clearly see that while a lot of people didn't rush to comply at first, they quickly folded with very little coercion until those absolutely refusing to obey became an extreme minority. There is NOTHING good about a system that embraces mob rule, ever.
