You're reading a lot into my comment that isn't there. Detaching childbirth from the womb of the mother has a million negative implications with very few payoffs. I don't think giving gay men a chance to have a baby that looks like both of them is a good enough reason to twist nature like this. It's also a very superficial reason. It's likely being framed as a gay rights issue so that the researchers can smooth over the obvious abomination that is the artificial womb.

If scientists could take a male skin cell and transfer that DNA to an egg, why couldn't they take a female skin cell and transfer that DNA to a sperm, thereby making men unneeded in the reproductive process as well? They could grow unlimited amounts of human beings in the laboratory, free of parents. Even genetically modify them to be whatever they wanted.
