Ideal would be men over 40, they have already founded a family and established a home and they know what to fight for (the future of their children). Instead, we are sending 18 year olds.

18-60 is the same range we use. 18 is when most Americans (that choose to) join the service, the officers are able to be called back until 65. It gives you an able workforce as well as a leadership with life experience.
